Carroll Locke – Urban Pilates was created 21 years ago. Sessions emphasise the mind-body connection. It uses classic Pilates exercises and adds a twist or an urban beat for variation.
It uses concentration for mental focus on the movements and body sensations to better engage and connect with your bodies during the exercises.
Coordinating breath with movement helps deepen the mind-body connection and enhances the flow and efficiency of the exercises.
The exercises involve paying close attention to body alignment, posture, and muscle engagement to help individuals develop a deeper understanding of their own movement patterns and make necessary adjustments for optimal alignment and function.
Urban Pilates focuses on strengthening the core muscles, which include the abdominals, back, and pelvic floor. A strong core provides stability, improves posture, and supports overall body strength and control.
It increases flexibility and body awareness: developing a greater range of motion, making everyday movements easier and reducing the risk of injuries.
